  • 4 Cups Water
  • 1 Can Evaporated Milk
  • 3 Anise Stars
  • 2 Sticks Cinnamon
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Sugar to taste
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Lime Peel
  • Ginger
  • Nutmeg

  • 4 Cups Water
  • 1 Can Evaporated Milk
  • 3 Anise Stars
  • 2 Sticks Cinnamon
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Sugar to taste
  • Pinch of Salt

  • Ginger
  • Nutmeg
Cup of Haitian Oatmeal
Instructions
  1. Add the oatmeal, cinnamon, anise stars, lemon peel, ginger and a bit of salt in 4 cups of water. Allow to sit for 10 minutes
  2. After 10 minutes, bring the mixture to a boil. Allow the mixture to thicken
  3. Be sure to mix occasionally as the mixture thickens
  4. When the mixture has thickened, add the milk (If the mixture is too thick add more milk)
  5. Add sugar and vanilla extract
  6. Continue to mix.
  7. Strain the mixture while it's still hot or not, depending on your preference
